What is Szukamksiążki.pl?

Szukamksiążki.pl enables you to search for the books you are interested in among the collection of 19 million books in the whole of Poland or simply in your library. You can then check the availability of a given title and reserve it or add it to your to-read list. The most important functions of szukamksiążki.pl are:

  • searching resources of libraries which use the MAK+ system,
  • online access to your library account,
  • checking information on the titles you have borrowed from all libraries,
  • searching the catalogues of all libraries at the same time,
  • reserving books at libraries of your choice,
  • checking information on the titles you have borrowed and reserving books with the use of mobile devices, such as iPhones, iPads and Android devices.
Why can’t I search my library using Szukamksiążki.pl?

Szukamksiążki.pl enables you to search libraries which use the MAK+ system. If your library does not use the MAK+ system, unfortunately you will not find it using Szukamksiążki.pl

What is MAK+?

MAK+ (MakPlus) is an electronic, integrated library system created and developed by the Polish Book Institute. The system makes it possible to create an electronic library catalogue, a database of library users, record rentals and access to resources, as well as create library statistics. Everything is done using a web browser.

The MAK+ library system is currently used by 2,182 libraries (884 main libraries and 1,298 affiliated entities), i.e. approximately 26.96% of all public libraries in Poland.

How can I become a user of Szukamksiążki.pl?

1. If you have a library card issued by one of the libraries using MAK+:

If you already have a library card issued by a library using the MAK+ system, all you have to do is register at szukamksiążki.pl to start using all functions immediately.

2. If you don’t have an account at any of the libraries using MAK+

If you don’t have an account at any of the libraries using MAK+, you should sign up for one directly at such a library and then register at szukamksiążki.pl, providing your details and card number. From this moment onwards you will be able to use all features offered by szukamksiażki.pl
